Why is there no steelmaking complex next to one of the world’s largest iron ore mines?
This was a question that had occupied the minds of the founders of Bafgh Steel. This question was raised some years ago, but nobody had taken steps to find the answer.
Abouei brothers began their journey in Tehran iron market from a small office in 1981. In 1998, fueled by their relentless effort and commitment to constant growth, they established the first production plant of the Yaran Industrial Group, named Yaran Rolling and Pipe mfg Co.

Soon thereafter, Mahdi Steel Industry Co., Arya Molybden Kasra Co., and Polymer Talaei Yazd were also incorporated into this industrial group.
Now it was time to provide a suitable answer to our question. In 2013, amidst numerous challenges and with unwavering determination, Bafgh Steel commenced operations in the desert terrains adjacent to Choghart iron ore mine in Yazd province. This endeavor marked the realization of our vision, propelled by private sector investment, in the ancestral homeland of the Abouei family.
The successful inauguration of the first phase of the ambitious plan at Yazd Bafgh Steel, which included the steel wire rod and rebar production line, reinforced our belief that adherence to production standards and using premium raw materials form the cornerstone of a genuine and enduring partnership between the producer and the customer.

Having weathered the challenges and triumphs of our journey in the steel and iron industry, the success of the initial phase propelling us forward, we were confident in taking the next steps.
The wheels of development at the complex kept turning. Despite being located in an underprivileged area, the concerted effort and hard work of the local community saw the commencement of operations at the direct reduction unit (DRI), along with the establishment of the smelting and steelmaking unit, as well as the iron ore pelletizing unit.
This endeavor stemmed from Bafgh Steel’s unique approach to entrepreneurship, job creation, and constant growth. With an unwavering commitment to quality, Bafgh Steel products have earned the distinction of being the sole product listed on the Ministry of Petroleum’s vendor list post-revolution.With the dedication and hard work of the specialists at Yazd Bafgh Steel, this growth trajectory will persist, paving the way for a brighter future for our country.
