Bafgh Pelletizing Unit
As part of its long-term plans in line with its macro policies, which aim at being an effective participant in both the upstream and downstream sectors of the steel industry, Bafgh Steel intends to establish a pelletizing unit with a capacity of 5 million tons. Bafgh Steel is striving to establish the largest pelletizing factory in the country, aimed at processing iron ores into pellets for distribution to steel factories nationwide. The establishment of the pellet production unit will provide the raw material for numerous steelmaking units employing direct reduction method.
Given the substantial value added in transforming iron ore concentrate into pellets, and according to the estimations, the payback period in pelletizing projects occurs with a two to three-year delay; the establishment of this unit will reduce costs associated with raw material sales of 2 million tons of iron concentrate.
Pellets are balls produced using iron ore fines and other additives, which are hardened after being heated and utilized in the production of sponge iron using the direct reduction method. These practical balls are composed of 64 to 72 percent iron and various other compounds that determine their chemical and metallurgical properties.
Pelletizing Process
The initial evaluations and negotiations for the establishment of Bafgh Steel Pelletizing Unit have been completed, and the construction of this industrial facility will soon begin.
Like other production units at Bafgh Steel, the workers of the Pelletizing Unit will strive to extract pellets from iron ore fines using standard methods. Given the diverse applications of pellets as raw materials in various industries, experts and specialists will closely monitor the production of this product. One of the key objectives outlined for the Bafgh Pelletization Unit within the Yaran Industrial Group is to achieve the production of top-tier pellets in the nation, utilizing raw materials of optimal purity.

- Entering the pellet production market in the country and meeting a portion of the demand for this product across various industries
- Producing high-quality pellets tailored to orders and consumer needs
- Fully utilizing the mineral potential of the region by enabling the transformation of all produced concentrate into pellets
Through the establishment of this production unit, in addition to generating new employment opportunities for our desert neighbors, the required costs for steel production will decrease. As a result, the demands of various industries, including the construction, automotive, household appliances, and bridge construction sectors, will be fulfilled.
